My top 3 Otter.ai alternatives
By Mary O'Brien, Customer Success Manager
Fathom AI
I use Fathom for quick meeting notes that automatically create follow-up content. The app captures Zoom, Google Meet & Microsoft Teams meetings and creates automatic AI generated call summaries I can review immediately following a meeting. I will also utilize an advance template with specific structures such as BANT and Sandler in order to maintain consistency from one call to another. With my premium account of $20 per user / month, I have been able to generate AI created action items and utilized "Ask Fathom" to capture both decisions or objections during a call without having to view it again. In addition, utilizing Team accounts ($19 per user / month – at least 2 users) has allowed me to provide team members access to a search feature which allows them to locate specific information within all of their collectively captured calls, comment on those calls, store the calls in organized folders, establish keyword alert functionality and customize how terms are transcribed.
Fireflies.ai
Fireflies is my pick when I want Q&A layered on top of transcripts. The Free tier includes 20 AI credits, while Pro costs $10/seat/month billed annually ($18 monthly) and Business costs $19/seat/month billed annually ($29 monthly). After a Zoom/Meet/Teams call, I’ll ask AskFred questions like “what were the next steps?” and then use the built-in Insights area (Feed, Tasks, Contacts) to keep outcomes organized without copying notes into another tool.
tl;dv - AI Meeting Assistant
tl;dv shines for sharing moments, not just archiving transcripts. It works with Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams, transcribes in 30+ languages with speaker detection, and lets me create clips straight from the transcript for a highlights reel. I also like its keyword search for finding the one requirement that came up across multiple calls. There’s a Free-forever plan to trial the workflow, and Pro is $25/user/month when I need more consistent team usage.

Shareable Clips That Eliminate Note Confusion
What I like most is how easy it is to grab a short clip from a meeting and send it to a teammate, because it avoids the usual back-and-forth where everyone interprets notes differently

Why is Fathom AI a good alternative to Otter.ai?
I recommend Fathom to anyone who lives in recurring calls and needs consistent outputs across them, consultants, customer success managers, and sales teams running discovery at scale. What makes it click for me is the combination of (1) an always-on capture layer (Zoom/Meet/Teams recording + transcription) and (2) structure you can standardize, like advanced summary templates (BANT, Sandler, and other frameworks) that keep notes comparable week to week. If I’m solo or just validating a workflow, the Free plan’s unlimited recordings/transcriptions plus instant AI summaries is enough to replace “manual notes + hoping I remember.” When I’m coordinating follow-ups, Premium’s AI action items and “Ask Fathom” reduce the time I spend hunting for one decision. And when I’m collaborating, Team’s global search across shared calls plus comments, folders, and keyword alerts is the difference between “I have recordings” and “I can actually retrieve the right moment later.”

Why is Fireflies.ai a good alternative to Otter.ai?
I like Fireflies.ai for teams that treat meetings as a knowledge base, not just a transcript archive, recruiting teams comparing candidate interviews, product teams doing user research, and revenue ops trying to standardize “what was decided” across calls. The reason is operational: Fireflies ties AI usage to AI credits and surfaces a dedicated AskFred assistant, so I can spend credits on targeted questions (owners, decisions, blockers) instead of generating yet another generic summary I won’t read. The tiering also maps cleanly to growth: Free starts with 20 AI credits to test the workflow; Pro at $10/seat/month (annual) is the first meaningful bump; Business at $19/seat/month (annual) is where I expect teams to standardize usage. I also like that it’s built to ingest calls across Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams, and it has an Insights layer (Feed, Tasks, Contacts) that encourages turning transcripts into follow-through without exporting everything to a separate system.
What are the differences between Fireflies.ai and Otter.ai?
Otter.ai’s AI layer is centered on “AI Chat within and across meetings” with hard monthly query caps (Basic 20, Pro 50, Business 200), and its paid tiers are anchored around Pro ($8.33/user/month annual) and Business ($19.99/user/month) with structured limits like max conversation length (30 minutes on Basic, 90 minutes on Pro, 4 hours on Business). Fireflies.ai feels more like a transcript-first system with a credit meter for AI: the Free plan includes 20 AI credits, and the pricing steps are Pro ($10/seat/month billed annually or $18 monthly), Business ($19/seat/month billed annually or $29 monthly), and Enterprise ($39/seat/month billed annually). Practically, that changes how I use it: with Fireflies I budget AI credits for AskFred questions and AI apps, while Otter nudges me to stay inside its AI Chat query counts. Otter also highlights team vocabulary, taggable speakers, and meeting workflows; Fireflies highlights AI summaries, AskFred, and an Insights layer (Feed, Tasks, Contacts).

Why is tl;dv - AI Meeting Assistant a good alternative to Otter.ai?
I reach for tl;dv when the deliverable isn’t “a transcript,” but “a 40-second clip that proves the point.” That’s common for product managers and UX researchers compiling evidence from interviews, enablement leads building a library of customer objections, and distributed teams working across multiple languages. The feature set matches that job: transcription in 30+ languages with speaker detection, keyword search for repeat themes, meeting summarization for quick context, and clip creation so I can share a precise moment without asking someone to watch a full replay. I also like that there’s a Free-forever tier to validate adoption before committing, because “everyone says they’ll watch recordings” is not the same as actual usage; then Pro at $25/user/month is a clear step up when clips and search become part of a team workflow. Full alternatives list: Fathom AI, Granola, Lindy.ai, Fellow.app, Wispr Flow, Notta.ai, Claude AI, Fireflies.ai, Deepgram, Scribe, Buzzsprout, AssemblyAI, Claap, tl;dv - AI Meeting Assistant, Upmeet.
What are the differences between tl;dv - AI Meeting Assistant and Otter.ai?
tl;dv and Otter.ai both cover the basics of capturing calls, but they diverge in what I’d call the “artifact” they optimize for. Otter leans into a searchable transcript plus AI workflows, with strong admin/plan mechanics (e.g., Pro caps at 1,200 minutes/user/month and 90-minute conversations, Business is $19.99/user/month and allows 4-hour conversations, plus AI Chat query limits per tier). tl;dv leans into shareable video moments: it explicitly includes clip creation, keyword search, and transcription in 30+ languages with speaker detection, and it positions itself as a meeting note-taker for Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams. Language coverage is a real separator for me: Otter’s AI transcription languages listed are English, French, or Spanish, while tl;dv is designed for multi-language teams. Pricing is also a different shape: tl;dv offers a Free-forever plan and lists Pro at $25/user/month, whereas Otter’s entry paid plan is cheaper but gated by minutes and meeting-length rules.

Strong accuracy even with messy audio
I used Deepgram for transcribing recorded sales calls where people constantly interrupted each other, spoke with different accents, or had noisy backgrounds. The transcription quality was surprisingly solid without spending weeks cleaning audio beforehand.
