My top 3 UpKeep alternatives
By Mary O'Brien, Customer Success Manager
Motive (ex. KeepTruckin)
Motive is a solid alternative to UpKeep, offering an intuitive, cloud-based maintenance management platform. It includes useful features like asset management, work order tracking, and preventive maintenance scheduling. For example, a manufacturing business can easily schedule routine equipment checks using Motive, helping to keep machines running smoothly and reducing the chances of surprise breakdowns.
Overall, Motive stands out as a reliable choice for companies looking for a user-friendly and effective alternative to UpKeep. Its straightforward interface and practical tools make it an appealing option for streamlining maintenance tasks.
ProntoForms
ProntoForms is another excellent alternative. This mobile forms solution is designed for field service businesses. It allows users to collect data in real time, even without an internet connection. For example, a field technician can use ProntoForms to record information about a job while on-site, then sync this data with the main system once they have internet access. This eliminates the need for paper forms and reduces the chance of data loss or errors.
Simpro
Simpro is a comprehensive job management software that can serve as an alternative to UpKeep. It offers features like scheduling and dispatching, inventory management, and invoicing. A plumbing company, for example, could use Simpro to manage their entire workflow - from scheduling jobs and dispatching plumbers, to tracking inventory and invoicing customers. This can greatly improve efficiency and productivity.

Coercion/Intimidation Review
I have been with Motive, formerly known as Keep Trucking, and had a contract with them for 3 years. I encountered an issue when I discovered that they had deducted $5 from my account after my contract had ended. When I called to complain, they had the audacity to tell me that my contract had automatically renewed and since they had already taken the money, they could only discontinue it after another year. I've never experienced such a ridiculous response in my life, as they are essentially trying to bully me into staying with them for another year. I received no notice of this and only noticed the charge 3 days later as I had just returned from vacation. I would advise against using them.

Motive (ex. KeepTruckin) compared to UpKeep
UpKeep is a better solution based on percentage of positive reviews than Motive (ex. KeepTruckin): 97 vs 90
UpKeep is a better solution for customer support than Motive (ex. KeepTruckin): 5.0 vs 4.5
UpKeep is better at value for money than Motive (ex. KeepTruckin): 4.6 vs 4.3
UpKeep has more options than Motive (ex. KeepTruckin): 192 vs 53
Why is Motive (ex. KeepTruckin) a good alternative to UpKeep?
As a software developer, I often find that the concept of upkeep serves as a good alternative to motive. This is because upkeep focuses on the continuous improvement and maintenance of a system, rather than just the initial motivation or purpose behind its creation. It emphasizes the importance of regularly updating and refining a system to ensure its effectiveness and efficiency.
For instance, in coding, we don't just write a program and leave it be. We constantly revisit our code, debug it, make it more efficient, and add new features. This ongoing process of upkeep ensures that our software remains relevant, functional, and user-friendly. Therefore, while motive might spark the creation of a system or software, it's the upkeep that maintains its value over time.

Why is Simpro a good alternative to UpKeep?
I find UpKeep a great alternative to SimPro primarily due to its user-friendly interface and versatility. Unlike SimPro, UpKeep offers a mobile-first approach, making it easier for teams on the go to manage work orders, assets, and maintenance from any location. This feature enhances real-time communication and overall productivity.
Additionally, UpKeep's pricing structure is more flexible compared to SimPro. It offers different plans suitable for businesses of all sizes, from startups to large enterprises. Furthermore, its integration capability is impressive. It seamlessly integrates with popular tools like Google Calendar and Zapier, which is not as straightforward in SimPro.
Lastly, UpKeep provides excellent customer support with quick response times and helpful solutions. While SimPro also offers support, the efficiency and effectiveness of UpKeep's service stand out.
What are the differences between Simpro and UpKeep?
Comparing these 2 applications, I can say that UpKeep and simPRO are both powerful maintenance management tools, but they each have unique features that set them apart. UpKeep, for instance, is a mobile-first platform designed primarily for facility management and equipment maintenance. Its interface is user-friendly and it offers real-time updates which make it easy to track work orders and assets.
On the other hand, simPRO is more focused on job management, specifically for service, project and maintenance businesses. It offers comprehensive features for estimating, scheduling, project management and invoicing. Additionally, simPRO provides a detailed financial overview of your jobs and projects which is particularly beneficial for larger businesses.
In essence, while both tools provide excellent maintenance management capabilities, UpKeep might be more suitable for those looking for a simple, mobile-first solution, whereas simPRO could be more appealing to those in need of an in-depth job management system.

Rigid and disappointing customer service despite several years of loyalty
After several years of using Contractbook, I find myself being charged for a full year's subscription even though I haven't used the platform at all for several months. No explicit renewal reminder, no prior contact, and especially no consideration of my situation when I reported the issue upon receipt of the invoice. Customer service only referred me to the terms and conditions, with zero flexibility or understanding, despite my loyalty and the fact that I've consumed nothing of the service. No commercial gesture, no recognition of the context. This is a very disappointing, even disdainful, way to treat a long-standing customer. When a company prefers to take an unjustified sum rather than build a relationship based on trust, it speaks volumes. If you are considering using Contractbook, be extremely careful of the automatic renewal, as they will absolutely not try to understand your situation, even in case of error or non-use. Contract first, customer second.
